LNEC
LNEC (Portuguese Laboratory of Civil Engineering) is a national organisation for applied research and development in the field of civil engineering. It is a governmental body with its own legal status under the Ministry for Public Works, Transport and Housing.

LNEC’s activity covers several fields of civil engineering and it is oriented towards innovation in civil engineering, its implementation and practical applications. LNEC has a staff of 680 of which approximately 22% are researchers holding a PhD.

LNEC is organized into 10 operative services that correspond to its major activity lines including the Transportation Department, which will be LNEC’s core unit taking part in the project.

 

Key Personnel

 

  • Dr. Elisabete Arsenio

    Dr. Elisabete Arsenio will lead the LNEC team that will be involved in the project. Dr Arsenio has a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the Technical University of Lisbon/module at the University of Liverpool and a PhD in Transport from the Institute for Transport Studies, University of Leeds. She is presently a researcher at the Planning, Traffic and Safety Division of the Department of Transportation LNEC. Dr Arsenio is LNEC’s representative at ECTRI (European Conference of Transport Research Institutes) WG Transport Economics and Policy as well as the President the Scientific Committee “Planning for Sustainable Land Use and Transport” of the European Transport Conference 2011.
